Maternity Session at Home and Botanical Garden

There are so many amazing places in DC to take photos, but I remain a big fan of photos taken in your own home, where you are most comfortable and your personal style is reflected in your surroundings. That said, the Botanical Gardens, and the small park just south of there, on Capitol Hill, were an outstanding location for Vanessa’s maternity session. Thankfully the rain in the forecast held off and we had a beautiful day for photos!

Cakepops!

My friend Yael is an amazing  baker – you might have seen me post pics of her delicacies here before. She is in the midst of a Kickstarter campaign RIGHT NOW to raise the funds to open a brick & mortar shop – DC’s first Cakepoppery. Lots of my photos are used on her campaign page, including these great ones we shot the weekend before her campaign went live, using one of my adorable clients and a few colorful cake pops.

Take a minute to visit Yael’s page and maybe even pledge a little support to her brilliant business dream.

Mother’s Day Mini-session with daughters

I loved this mini-session – it was a mother’s day gift of a photo shoot with mama and daughters. Mom Tasneem and her winsome little girls brought their biggest smiles and we had a great time at Ft. Green Park making the most of an absolutely beautiful day.

Molly’s portraits

Another of the great sessions at Ft. Greene Park in Brooklyn.

I am in love with sweet Molly – and not just for her adorable grin,  but also for her colorful, hand-knit dress and jacket (made by her awesome mama). Molly’s session was a blast, and her parents were a ton of fun to work with.

I hope they love these images of their bubbly baby girl.

Lillianne’s Ft. Greene mini-session

Last weekend I had a wonderful Sunday morning shooting mini-sessions in Ft. Greene Park in Brooklyn. In spite of the windy, sunshiny day (who complains about spring wind and sunshine? Photographers!) we found shade among the giant old trees throughout the park, and had great sessions.

Here is Lillianne, in her lovely spring dress and new dress shoes, looking like a fairy-tale heroine in an enchanted forest!

Baby Charlie & Family

In general, Fridays are for newborn sessions, because new mamas and daddies are at home, settling in as a family with their amazing new little charges. So it was with nine-day old Charlie and his family.

We had a lovely spot with soft sunlight coming in to set up for Charlie’s photos. Without a doubt these are some of my favorite newborn images. (Maybe I always feel that way?) I am so thrilled to be photographing Charlie’s first year – I can tell he’s going to be a handsome, spunky little man.

Here are a few of Charlie’s newborn photos:

Old friends and a new one on the way

Today is the 4th anniversary of friends and clients Rob & Christy. I had the honor of being their wedding photographer four years ago, and later, I got to photograph their newborn son John. We met twice more for his Baby’s First Year session, and last weekend met for this great family session ahead of the arrival of their next baby!

Rob & Christy have not only graciously shared their growing family with me, but also sent other clients my way over the years. I am blessed!

Here is John at 2, on the verge of becoming a big brother!
